What is Philafest?

This past summer, a group from PPC traveled to Germany and studied about Martin Luther’s Reformation. Traditionally, Oktoberfest is an event held in Germany dating back to 1810. It was originally a wedding celebration attended by the citizens of Munich. So much fun was had, they continued the event annually. In this same vein, Philafest is a celebration of our congregation! We will have an afternoon of games and activities followed by a German Feast and live music and dancing. ALL of our congregation is invited to attend and become a part of our own tradition!

Why are we having Philafest?

The Congregational Life committee’s purpose is to create space for the congregation to be together and in community. We are having this event so that ALL of the congregation can come together to have a night of FUN and fellowship! It’s our way of saying thank you for being such a wonderful community to come and worship with.

When is Philafest?

Saturday, October 21st. Begins at 4:00

What is a “German Feast?”

Think bratwursts, sauerkraut, potato salad, pretzels and root beer. For kiddos (and any picky adults), we will have a traditional hotdog option.

Should I plan to be there all night?

We sure hope so! Come early and leave late!

Games and activities will start outside the Kerr Building (weather permitting) at 4:00

Dinner will be served at 5:30

Live band music will begin at 6:00

How do I RSVP?

You can fill out a bulletin flyer in the coming weeks and leave it in the offering plate or RSVP online. Visit philadelphiachurch.org and click PhilaFEST under “Featured Events.” For food planning purposes, please RSVP by October 8th!

How can I help?!
Make sure your church friends know about the event! We want this to be a big celebration so we would love for ALL of the church to attend. If you would like to help decorate, contact Pam Jack. If you would like to learn about German fare and help with dinner, contact Carol Jaeger. If you would like to help with games and activities, contact Amy Stanley or Amy Kafitz. If you have any questions or want to help in another way, contact Elizabeth Griffin.
